Al Burda Award
Launched in 2004, Al Burda is an international initiative by Ministry of Culture. It supports and fosters creativity by honouring outstanding creativity in traditional Islamic art forms, and appreciating the Arabic language, its aesthetics and its pioneers.
In the 2023 edition, the award invites entries in three categories: Poetry (Classical and Nabati), Calligraphy (Classical and Modern) and Ornamentation. A cash prize of AED 210,000 will be awarded to winners of the first five positions in each category.
Arabic Language Award
The Arabic Language Award, launched by H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in 2014, aims to encourage exceptional contributions in serving the Arabic language and honouring its patrons, along with highlighting successful and outstanding experiences in disseminating and educating the public about the Arabic language.
Holy Quran Award
The Dubai International Holy Quran Award was established in 1997. It is given annually to achievers in Quranic competitions, recitations and progammes from all over the Muslim world, as well as to distinguished individuals and institutions that served Muslims.
Award for Science, Arts and Literature
In 2006, the Emirates Appreciation Award for Science, Arts and Literature were launched to stimulate the intellectual, cultural and creative people in the UAE, to honour them for their contribution and motivate the younger generations to improve their knowledge of science, arts and literature.
Monodrama Festival Awards
Launched in 2003, the Fujairah International Monodrama Festival Awards aims at encouraging the presence of Monodrama in the Arabic theatre in general and in the Emirati theatre in particular and supporting the young and talented artists who can contribute to its growth.
Fujairah Photography Award
Fujairah Culture and Media Authority launched the first Fujairah Photography Award in 2007 with the aim of upgrading the intellectual, cultural and aesthetic scene in Fujairah in particular and the UAE in general. It also aims at presenting creative works that express the reality, enhance the artistic taste of the public and enrich the world of visual arts.
Patrons of the Arts Awards
The Patrons of the Arts Awards were launched in 2009 to honour and recognise individuals, businesses, organisations and government entities that have demonstrated financial and in-kind contributions towards arts in Dubai, with sustained support and promotion of artistic activity.
Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity
Sharjah Department of Culture and Information announced the Sharjah Award for Arab Creativity in 1996, based on the instructions of H. H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, in line with his efforts to support talented writers in the UAE and across the Arab region.
Award for Theatre Creativity
The Sharjah Award for Theatre Creativity was launched in 1996 to encourage and honour the playwrights of the Arab nations, who showed their dedication to theatre for many years and created the right platform for the Arab theatre.
Sharjah International Book Fair Awards
The annual Sharjah International Book Fair Awards were announced in 1981 to promote the production of good quality publications and to recognise and appreciate the distinguished people and organisations for their contribution to the social, cultural and literary fields.
Sheikh Zayed Book Award
The Sheikh Zayed Book Award was announced in 2006. It is presented annually to outstanding writers, intellectuals and publishers, as well as young talent whose writing and translation enriches the Arab intellectual, cultural, literary and social life.
