Disintegration within
the institutions
hinders innovation
Study
A recent study has confirmed that the disintegration inside the
institutions hinders innovation. The study entitle building innovation
using LaaS issued by Oracle – the leading company in the Cloud
Computing domain – has revealed that the companies work in a way
that hinders the cooperation between its different departments.
The study has reviewed the opinions of more than 1200 of the
decision makers in the technology department in medium and big
enterprises in Europe, GCC states, Africa and united kingdom, and
focused on the methodology adopted by the companies regarding
the cloud computing, in addition to the major problems and obstacles
encountered by innovation.
The study showed that the companies are in need of enhancing the
cooperation between the departments. The data recorded by the
participants has showed that theGCC states have the highest percentage
compared with the others. %72 of the participants confirmed that
different business and information technology teams must collaborate
with each other to make the use of ‘Cloud Computing’ useful.
%35 of the participants pointed that the senior administrations do
not consult the information technology administration when doing
the procurement, which in its turn constitute a big barrier to adopt
an integrated cloud methodology, meanwhile %39 of the participants
said that the lack of understanding the integrated cloud unit by
the administrations is one of the challenges encountered by the
infrastructure of adopting the cloud computing.
Moreover, the study showed that the method of using the technology
is by itself in need of change, since %49 of the Gulf companies are not
efficientlyusingplatforms,and%50ofthemarelateinitsimplementation.
On the other hand, %39 of the companies have recorded weakness in
the applications integration which in its turn shall affect the innovation.
According to the report, %35 of the companies are suffering from
inconsistency in their infrastructure, %35 increased information
technology risks, %30 increase in the costs and %30 stable investment
revenues. Accordingly, these cases are considered obstacles in adopting
an integrated methodology in cloud computing which in its turn will
create better cooperation.
Pascal Gerward, Director of LaaS and Cloud Computing in Europe,
Middle East and Africa in Oracle explained that: ‘some of the
infrastructure cases, that has become very rigid, sophisticated and
disturbing, must be solved since they have led to the lack of response
and disintegration within the organization, which leads to the loss of
innovation opportunities’.
He added ‘we can use infrastructure solutions like LaaS service which
allows the companies to connect its departments and move to more
cooperative environment. Furthermore, it provides a mutual base for
innovation, removes all the barriers surrounding the resources and
limits the formation of unorganized groups of data’.
