UAE researchers… brains that admire innovation
Establishing companies union that adopts and
supports the inventions is a demand
Inventions in all the domains and the artificial intelligence is a common factor
The development that UAE has achieved
on the world innovation indicator for the
year 2016 that was recently launched, won
the first place on the Arabic level and place
41 on the global level in its comprehensive
performance in the indicator is not
considered strange,moving fromthe second
place on the Arabic level, and the forty
seventh globally in the indicator of 2015.
The favor goes to all the institutions of UAE
that were keen to spread the innovation
culture between the members of the society,
inorder tomake our countrywithin themost
developed and innovative countries in the
world within the coming years.
Emirate government believes that the
youth are the future, the hope, the energy
and the major engine of innovation and
sustainable development in any of the
modern societies. Despite the initiatives and
efforts of the country in this domain, some
researchers demanded the establishment of
‘one umbrella’ in which all the inventions
and ideas are recorded, in addition to
the Companies Union that takes the
responsibility of designing and executing
these ideas and provide them on reality for
the public interest.
Researchers and professors from national
universitiesagreed that the inventiveprojects
require support and finance from the related
authorities concerning the researches that
are done in the local educational institutions,
in order to execute them and make them
valid for the public interest.
They have all agreed that most of the
scientific inventions in different domains
whether energy or health or education or
telecommunications or other sectors cannot
survive without the smart applications
which are consisted an integrated part of
these inventions.
The
researchers
pointed
that
the
implementation of innovative projects on
reality shall contribute in developing the
studies and researchers that are currently
conducted. Moreover, it shall enhance the
existing level of the scientific experiments,
which in its turn will allow its future
development and adding the necessary
adjustments and completing the steps
planned for the future.
Khalifa Semiconductor Research Centre in
Khalifa University is planning to conduct
several partnerships with the competent
authorities in Health to execute innovative
projects done by around 40 professors,
students and researchers in the Centre.
Nanometric sensors
The Director of Khalifa Semiconductor
Research Sensor in Khalifa University
– Abu Dhabi, Dr Mohammed Ismael Al
Najjar confirmed to ‘e-government’ that
researchers from the centre succeeded in
obtaining 20 patentswithin three years since
the establishment of the Centre.
Al Najjar referred that most of the research
and innovative projects in the Centre are
focused on the domain of Energy andHealth
in which they used the latest international
technology in the domain of critical systems
and semiconductors which are electronic
chips consisting from Nano metric silicon
sensors.
Al Najjar continued that the Centre
Researchers have succeeded during the last
three years from developing a collection
of inventions which included chips that
work without battery or consume small
amount of power less than 60% from the
current batteries, to measure the sugar by
Saliva, or detect the radiations issued by
different bodies especially the harmful ones.
Moreover, the researchers designed other
chips to store information and imageswhich
shall help in collecting information about the
Sleep Apnea Patients.
Moreover, he mentioned that some projects
require support from the competent
authorities in order to develop them
and continue the other research steps
including the design of Smart applications
for Mobile Phones to increase its utility for
the users whether in health or energy or
telecommunications, suggesting that there
must be a union consisting from a group of
the biggest companies that can adopt and
support these inventions and transform it
to reality and make them available to the
highest number of people.
Al Najjar asserted that some future
development plans include the addition of
communication feature or one that is similar
to ‘Wi-Fi’ to those chips to connect themwith
the electronic applications of the computers
or smart phones to transfer the information
quickly and store them and making them
