DEWA: 100% transition into smart
services
Saeed Al Tayer – Managing Director and
CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water
Authority (DEWA) said DEWA has com-
pleted 100% of the transition into smart
services. The process cost a total of AED
600 million and was not restricted to sys-
tems and applications only, but was rather
a complete system that includes a smart
energy transportation network and a proj-
ect to install smart consumption meters
compatible with the released applications.
He said another project is being imple-
mented in cooperation with Ejari program
of the Dubai Land Department. The project
enables users to remotely apply for DEWA
services upon moving to a new residence.
He added that being entitled to Green
Economy for Sustainable Development,
DEWA has introduced the Green Bill,
which offers you the convenience of view-
ing and paying your DEWA bill online. It
is an electronic version of a paper bill. No
paper bills are available for the commer-
cial and industrial sector. The same thing
will soon apply to DEWA customers in the
residential sector.
Al Tayer said DEWA app has now 150
electronic and mobile services and 3.3
million transactions have been completed.
Dubai Courts: 110 services going
to 210 services
Tarish Eid Al Mansouri, Director-General
of Dubai Courts said that direct and in-
stant communication with the public is key
to the success of the mGovernment initia-
tive. He said the aim is not to submit pa-
pers and enter data from offices to smart-
phones and tablets, but to give access to
the service, receive a response within 24
hours and communicate with the employ-
ee in charge.
He continued saying that Dubai Courts
have taken both service providers and
beneficiaries into account in its smart
transition. Services on smartphones and
tablets have been provided to the public
and lawyers, as well as court employees,
thus enabling them to provide the service,
review applications and requests and re-
spond to them, forward them and com-
plete them all through their mobile plat-
forms.
