The Telecommunications Regulatory Au-
thority (TRA) has overseen the implemen-
tation of the mGovernment initiative. It has
charted out a roadmap for the transition.
The comprehensive roadmap includes the
technical, administrative, organizations,
economic, media and awareness aspects.
The TRA has further developed the mGov
guide to serve as a technical reference
through the transition journey.
The TRA has also laid the foundation
for the FEDnet to serve as a solid base
that provides integration, interaction, data
share and transactions with a high level
of protection and reliability. The FEDnet
should link the various government enti-
ties together in a bid to provide their ser-
vices to customers.
The TRA has launched CoDI, the Centre
of Digital Innovation, an mGovernment
initiative providing services for testing and
verifying security and functionality of mo-
bile applications for Government depart-
ments.
In order to encourage the adoption of best
practices and international standards,
CoDI provides consultation services to
government organizations in the process
of developing the mobile applications. It is
responsible for running the mGovernment
app store.
Several government organizations said
they have already completed the transi-
tion into smart services and they are now
in the process of developing and improv-
ing the services on mobile phones based
on customers’ feedback.

mobile apps, the RTA has launched the
RTA best smart app contest for students.
