The Commander of Dubai Police, Maj Gen
Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina launched the
smart touch screen service at Dubai Mall.
The service aims to provide quality servic-
es that exceed customer expectations and
save time and cost. This comes in line with
the Dubai Smart Government initiative and
world’s smartest city Dubai.
Al Mazeina stressed the importance of trans-
formation from traditional police stations into
smart police stations through revolutionary
concepts to achieve innovation, excellence
and leadership. He also pointed out the
need to develop future visions for transfor-
mation into smart systems and thorough
technology, adopt and develop technology
innovations and projects to serve the future
of Dubai Police.
In the first stage of the project a total of smart
screens were installed and made available
to the public, providing their services to
Dubai Mall visitors, as part of Dubai Police
Smart Centre’s initiative. The users
can access a number of services relat-
ed to traffic, criminal complaints such
as ones involving bad cheques, track-
ing criminal complaints, filing new
criminal complaints, tracking a bad
cheque complaint and reporting lost
items. Services also include requests
for certificates such as criminal record
certificates, tracking certificate request,
To Whom It May Concern certificate, lost
item certificate and lost passport certifi-
cate. Users can also use the screens to ac-
cess services pertaining to permits to visit
detainees. With regard to traffic services,
users can request clearance letters for traf-
fic fines, inquire and pay traffic fines, re-
port minor traffic accidents, track
a traffic report. Other ser-
vices include home
security.
A series of extensive preparations were
undertaken by the Telecommunications
Regulatory Authority (TRA) of the UAE to
participate in the International Telecom-
munication Union (ITU) Plenipotentiary
Conference 2014 (PP-14), which will be
held in South Korea, Busan City from 18
October to 7 November 2014. The UAE
leads the regional preparatory meetings
for the Arab team participating in the con-
ference.
The meetings discussed the vision of
the Arab Regional Group on support-
ing candidates who are represent-
ing the Arab region across various
positions in the ITU including the
ITU Council and Radio Regulations
Council. The meeting included a
review of the Arab paperwork to be
submitted during the conference

Director General highlighted the need
for Arab nations to consolidate efforts
and have a mutual strategic vision that
enables everyone to engage and pro-
vide their views at the international level
across all the ITU’s sectors, committees
and agencies. He stressed that as na-
tions and people, we care about deliver-
ing our voice and concerns to the world.
He added that this coming conference
will review an array of key topics in rela-
tion to the constitution and its structuring,
access to the ITU documents and data.
The conference will also discuss access
given to people with limited and special
needs, effective remote participation in
the ITU meetings and civil aviation safety
and the importance of the role of com-
munications in strengthening the security
and safety of air traffic.
