GPSSA declared that according to the preliminary estimates of the periodic disbursement reports for 2020, the total value of insurance expenditures during the past year amounted to about (7) billion, (572) thousand and (278) AED, varying between pensions, end-of-service gratuities and compensation, noting that these expenditures were paid to (23,040) retirees, (17,762) beneficiaries and (3,394) insured persons whose services ended during the year, in addition to (90) compensation cases, making a total of about (44,286) beneficiaries.
The publication of these data is in light of the Government's direction to adopt a data dissemination policy in its public institutions in order to enhance the transparency frameworks related to government work, as these data contribute to promoting the investment climate in the Country, creating more job opportunities, and supporting decision-makers and institutions operating in the Country in making decisions and establishing policies that enhance development capabilities and opportunities. In addition, the ease of access to such data improves the efficiency of services as well as effectiveness in responding to all developments related to government work, such as employing the necessary resources in emergencies, among other measures. He added that these data have a direct annual economic value estimated in the billions in global capitals, including the UAE, which now enjoys a high reputation in the field of business worldwide.
The total of these expenditures, the total pensions paid to retirees and beneficiaries in 2020 amounted to (6) billion, (979) million, (987) thousand and (692) AED, and the end-of-service gratuities paid to the insured persons whose services ended amounted to (586) million, (243) thousand and (446) AED. In addition, the value of compensations paid out of the total expenditures amounted to about (6) million, (47) thousand and (500) AED. It is noteworthy that these payments include civilians subject to the provisions of the Pensions and Social Security Law No. (7) of 1999, as well as military
individuals, according to the pension laws to which they are subject.
