Tariq Hilal Lootah: The celebration of Emirati women recognises the empowerment of women globally

His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs, affirmed that since the founding of the UAE, women have received the unwavering support of the country’s wise leadership.

Making his announcement on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, His Excellency said that over the years, the nation’s rulers have empowered women to actively contribute to the process of development in the Emirates, with female Emiratis now playing influential leadership roles in all sectors across the country.

His Excellency stated that the celebration of Emirati women on this date recognises the empowerment of women globally, with the UAE having achieved a leading position on the international stage in this area. He highlighted that women have been a significant factor in the achievements made in the past 50 years of the union's life and are one of the main pillars of the UAE's centenary vision.

His Excellency pointed out that the slogan: ‘Planning for the Fifty: Women Support the Homeland’ is an affirmation of the great role and responsibility that women have in employing their array of capabilities to serve their country and ensure its continued sustainable development.

His Excellency affirmed that the empowerment enjoyed by women in the UAE as a result of the support they receive from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, President of the Supreme Council For Motherhood and Childhood - the ‘Mother Of The Nation,’ has enabled them to play a vital role in all domains and to access the highest ranks in all economic, cultural, scientific and political fields.

His Excellency explained that women have a long record of achievement in parliamentary work in the UAE, today numbering half of the membership of the Federal National Council. He said that their membership has elevated the council to first in the world for women's representation in parliament, with the women actively contributing to resolving issues of concern for citizens and playing an important role in the decision-making process, thereby serving their country and their people.
