On the sidelines of the UAE’s Innovation Month 2020, we pause to reflect on the social movement and awareness brought about by this initiative, focusing on innovation as a life style and an approach for individuals and the society

The Month of Innovation witnesses the launch of the biggest national challenge under the theme of the “The 50 Years Challenge” to design the future of the State by engaging all sectors of society in leveraging innovation to find solutions to four challenges. These challenges are to reach zero in: traffic accidents, the use of plastic, obesity among children, and the percentage of carbon dioxide emissions

The “National Innovation Strategy” launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in October 2014, aimed at making the United Arab Emirates among the most innovative countries in the world by 2021, was the most prominent start in the UAE direction towards the activation of programs and plans for innovation

In line with the objectives of the National Agenda of the “UAE Vision 2021“, which aimes at achieving a competitive economy based on creativity and innovation, the UAE has worked to intensify its efforts and review its governmental policies that create a stimulating environment for innovation that will make it at the first places globally. In February 2018, the UAE government adopted the “National Strategy for Advanced Innovation", as an improved version of the "National Strategy for Innovation" and a new phase in the transition from focusing on vital sectors to goals and outcomes, in the areas of future skills, living and life. As well as exploration, health, transportation,  green power and technology to serve the humanity

This comes in order to develop a pattern of thinking and encourage deliberate experience and risk. In addition to finding solutions that support the achievement of the goals of “UAE Centennial 2071”, by making the UAE the best globally in education, government performance, happiness of society and the economy. This will reflect the eagerness of the wise leadership promote a culture of innovation as a business approach that shapes the future and builds a bright tomorrow for future generations
