Women’s benefits in the pension law reflect the UAE appreciation for their positive social and economic role as undeniable partner in the regional and international position of the country.

Women representation in GPSSA confirms the status they have in the government and non-government work streams, which gained by the efforts exerted by the government to empower women in the society as well as the legislations established the gender equality and overcome all challenges they face towards their path to the top positions, which stated them as an ambassador abroad and a role model nationwide.

UAE realizes the women role in the national and service works as one arm of soft power in the country reflecting the positive discrimination-free perspective the Emirati community has towards women, based on their excellence in most of life lines up to the National Service, in which they embodied the highest levels of loyalty and devotion to the UAE and its leaders.

Women revival to the efforts exerted by the Late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who invested in women through education, which was the most important pillar in providing women their status in the work market, which is evidenced by the women subscription ratio in the Authority at 67% to 33% for men with a total number of 63,333 woman to 31601 man. This shows how vital the women's role in the society developmental plans and which does not accept retreat in such role as the Government is trying to enhance it.

This appreciation is best showed by celebrating the Emirati Women Day, which requires to praise the support and vital role they receive by H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), as she enhanced its vision towards women through establishing feminine entities helping in qualifying and support women to be reliable and active partner in the sustainable development journey.

I would like to thank the equality and tolerance values established by the UAE Constitution, the UAE cared through all legislations, such as Pension Law, to guarantee women rights and gender equality, and added that such Law gives same rights and privileges between men and women and sometime extends such privileges for women in appreciation to their family and community roles, whereas the Law give the women the right to purchase 10 service years resulting in 20% increase in their retirement pension in real valuation of their social role. Also, the Law gives sons and daughters same share of their father’s pension and the widow woman can combine her salary and share of her late husband pension as well as her pension and her share of her late husband pension.

Moreover, the Law stated to reimburse the share of the daughter and sister in the suspended pension due to marriage or job in cases of divorce or termination. Moreover, the Law states that if the daughter, sister or mother widowed or divorced after the death of father of mother and none of them has any salary or pension, a share is created for them from the GPSSA treasury without prejudice to other beneficiaries’ shares.
