Guide to Happiness and Quality of Life in the Work Environment

The two pillars of happiness include: happiness framework and quality of life; two main elements, which complete one another in an attempt to achieve happiness and quality of life in the work environment.

 

The first element involves happy and positive individuals, who take the lead and apply the tools to achieve their happiness and promote the quality of their lives.

 

The second element involves happy and positive establishment, which is keen on providing the adequate tools, means and environment to achieve happiness and quality of life to its employees and customers.

 

Happy and positive establishments empower the individual in order to achieve happiness and quality of life by raising awareness; providing the required tools and factors of empowerment and preparing the environment, which offers the opportunity to the individuals to promote their happiness and quality of their lives.

 

Happy and positive individuals spread positive emotions and have positive personalities by using the tools available in the work environment and their own lives to promote happiness and quality of life.

 

Positive Communication:

Happy and positive relations in the work environment depend on the positive communication at all levels in the establishment; either in personal relations among the colleagues, direct communication between the employees and managers or communication of leaders with the teams and with the establishment in general.

 

Positive communication includes the means of communication and messages required to be conveyed to the other party. The means of conveying message is as important as its content. This means that positive messages are to be conveyed and negative messages will be avoided at all times. Communication should be constructive and purposeful and should show attention to the other party and there should be a space for discussion. It is better to have a two-sided purposeful conversation rather than a one-sided conversation and rather than just talking and not listening to others. Furthermore, the method of delivering and listening to information is as important as the content of message or information.

 

Moreover, studies show that positive communication is the best way of promoting the confidence of persons in their potentials and improving their points of strength. One of the most important means when having a discussion involving different opinions is to focus on the problem and differences rather than the personal characteristics of those involved in this discussion or affected by it. This is the beginning of positive communication from the highest position on top of the organizational chart of the establishment when leaders and managers act as role models for the employees with respect to the basis of positive communication in the work environment
