Approval of Establishing National Committees to Develop National Occupational Standards and National Qualifications

National Qualifications Authority (NQA) approves the establishment of national committees in various industry sectors to develop national occupational standards and national qualifications (Q+NOS) for particular occupations. To ensure the quality of the committees ‘establishment and their developmental outcomes, NQA produced guidelines clarifying the committee establishment and Q+NOS development procedures, requirements and regulations. Among the requirements of national committees’ establishment are that the organization / entity interested in establishing a national committee submits an official application containing the occupation(s) title(s) targeted for Q+NOS development. The applicant has also to provide evidences reflecting the UAE need to develop Q+NOS for this or these occupation / occupations, along with evidences for relevant stakeholders’ support to establish the committee and participate in it.

To enable the approved committee carry out and complete the Q+NOS development project as per the NQA approved mechanism, the committee must conduct benchmarking, make consultations reviews and do validation on the Q+NOS material and content with the industry representatives to ensure alignment with labor market requirements and specifications. Once the development project is complete, the committee officially submits the products to NQA for endorsement purposes. Once endorsement is in place, the resultant qualifications will be

available for NQA accredited training providers to deliver and for learners to join.
