Pension schemes for expatriate workers in private and government sectors
There are no pension schemes for expatriate workers in the UAE; however, they are entitled to end of service gratuity, which is calculated according to the number of years in service.
End of services benefits for expatriates in the private sector
The worker is entitled to a gratuity for the served fraction of a year, if he completes one year of continuous service. End of services benefits are calculated on basis of last basic salary, which the employee was entitled to. End of services benefits for expatriates in the ministries and federal entities
To be eligible for end of service benefits in the government sector, an expatriate employee must have completed at least one year of continuous service with the respective federal entity. End of service benefits for expatriates in government sector are calculated as per the following:
- One month’s basic salary for each year of service for the first five years of service
- One and a half month’s basic salary for each of the next five years of services, calculated on the basis of the last five year’s average basic salary
- two months’ basic salary for each year of service thereafter, calculated on the basis of the last five year’s average basic salary.
