As per the Global Competitiveness Report 2019 (PDF, 8.55 MB) issued by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the UAE was ranked
- 1st in mobile phone subscriptions indicator
- 2nd in electricity access indicator
- 2nd in mobile-broadband subscriptions indicator
- 2nd in mobile-cellular telephone subscriptions indicator
- 2nd in ICT adoption pillar
- 4th in fibre internet subscriptions indicator
- 7th in quality of roads infrastructure indicator
- 7th in efficiency of air transport services indicator
- 12th in infrastructure pillar.
Overall, the UAE was ranked 1st regionally and 25th globally, maintaining its leading position among competitive economies in the world.
The report ranks 141 countries across 12 pillars which are:
- institutions
- infrastructure
- ICT adoption
- macroeconomic stability
- health
- skills
- product market
- labour market
- financial system
- market size
- business dynamism
- innovation capability.
The 12 pillars include 103 indicators. The UAE was ranked 10th globally in 34 out of 103 indicators.
