Future Possibilities Index
The ‘Future Possibilities Index’ (FPI) measures the capacity of countries to leverage possibilities for their future economic growth and societal wellbeing. As per the 2024 report, the UAE was ranked first in the Arab world, and first globally in 20 FPI indicators.
The ‘Future Possibilities Index’ (FPI) measures the capacity of countries to leverage possibilities for their future economic growth and societal wellbeing. The FPI 2024 report evaluated 70 countries, which account for more than 90 per cent of the global GDP.
It focused on six transformational trends, which are:
- Exabyte economy: tech surge
- Wellbeing economy
- Net zero economy
- Circular economy
- BioGrowth economy
- Experience economy: beyond the tangible.
It focused on the following three key areas of readiness:
- government strategy and policy
- industry strength
- core capacity.
As per the report, the UAE was ranked first in the Arab world, and first globally in 20 FPI indicators, including:
- government’s responsiveness to change
- development of future policies
- launching proactive government initiatives
- attractiveness and stability of global talent
- number of competitive working-age talent
- future digital software developers
- number of international tertiary education students
- size of the UAE market with its consumer spending potential
- ICT connectivity
- mobile broadband subscriptions and speed
- number of internet users.
