The National Genome Strategy aims to establish a comprehensive framework of laws and regulations to support the development and implementation of genomic programmes, improving public health priorities and wellbeing in the UAE. The strategy is based on five pillars, which include establishing an agile framework of legislation and governance and creating a harmonised and secure data infrastructure.

To be implemented over 10 years from the year 2023, it will accelerate solutions for personalised, preventive and precision medicine to combat chronic, genetic and rare diseases.

The Emirati Genome Programme is a foundational project within National Genome Strategy. It will advance the UAE’s preventive and personalised healthcare agenda as it collaborates with research and medical institutions across the UAE.
