The UAE Government instituted several awards to recognise individuals and entities that work towards maintaining the culture of tolerance and peace in the UAE. Read about the awards and learn how to apply for them.
Zayed Award for Human Fraternity recognises individuals and entities who embody the values of human fraternity. The award aims to support and promote peaceful coexistence at all levels. The award was established on 4 February 2019 to mark the historic meeting in Abu Dhabi between His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmed Al-Tayeb and the Head of the Catholic Church His Holiness Pope Francis to co-sign the Document on Human Fraternity.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Award for Tolerance aims to develop young Arab leaders in the field of tolerance and support the intellectual, cultural and media promotions of values of tolerance and openness.
Launched in 2016, the award is a member of Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, a charitable foundation, which focuses on developmental and relief efforts across the Arab region and beyond.
The award is divided into five categories, three of which honour the champions of tolerance in human thought, literary creativity and the arts. The other two focus on youth projects and new media.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for World Peace was established in 2011, to accurately and fairly highlight Islam’s teachings of peace, as a doctrine that promotes harmony, tolerance and moderation. The Award also aims to build bridges of cooperation between diverse cultures, thereby fortifying international relations.
Launched in 2014, the UAE International Award for Poets of Peace aims to encourage poets to spread the message of peace around the world and create awareness about the importance of peace and consciousness for humanity through the three award categories: ‘Culture of Peace’, ‘Religious Tolerance’ and ‘Humanitarian Values’.
