In 2006, Sheikh Khalifa Government Excellence Program (SKGEP) was launched with the aim to achieve excellent results in the performance of the human resources of the public sector and to enhance their culture of innovation, loyalty and excellence, through applying an international excellence model and other development initiatives.
In 1997, the Dubai Government Excellence Program is the first integrated programme for governmental excellence in the world. It aims to be the driving force behind the development of the public sector in Dubai and enable it to provide distinctive services for all stakeholders.
The Abu Dhabi Awards for Excellence in Government Performance, launched in 2006, are meant to be a reflection of Abu Dhabi Government’s resolution to instil the principles of excellence in public service, while striking a balance between individual and institutional goals.
The Fujairah Government Excellence Programme was launched to raise the standard of government performance in the emirate of Fujairah, in accordance with the benchmarks of excellence.
The programme aims to empower the government sector in Fujairah to excel in both, performance and services. It seeks to develop human potential, promote a culture of excellence and creativity in the local government institutions and stimulate competition among them.
The programme will establish and support strategic partnerships between local government departments and the private sector, both regionally and globally.

The Ajman Excellence Program (Arabic only) is an integrated development programme that aims to achieve excellence in performance of organisations in both private and government sectors and to promote the spirit of competition through the European Excellence model.
The Best mGovernment Service Award was created in 2013 to motivate government entities to provide innovative solutions in the field of smart phone applications, mobile web and SMS that ensure access to government services around the clock that are easy, efficient and transparent to meet the public needs and exceed their expectations.
The Chancellor’s Award for Institutional Excellence was established in 2015. It primarily aims at improving institutional mechanisms, creating a spirit of competition between sectors and departments, developing and building the capacities of employees and establishing best practices in management and provision of services.
