729,445 users have downloaded the Dubai Police mobile app on
their smartphones until the first quarter of this year. In the same
period, there was a total of 375,187 transactions with Dubai Police
via the mobile app, along with 11,744,556 inquiries.
1000 people registered on the mobile
portal
1000 residents from different nationalities as
well as nationals have registered on the mobile
portal of the General Directorate of Residency
and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai. The mobile por-
tal offers people arriving through Terminal 3 the
fastest way to go through passport control. The
service allows registered travelers upon arrival
to pass through passport control in less than 15
seconds.

500% rise in Android apps designed to
steal financial data
The amount of Android apps designed to steal finan-
cial data increased dramatically by 500%, according
to research from security company FireEye. The new
report from FireEye, titled ‘Out of Pocket: A Compre-
hensive Mobile Threat Assessment of 7 Million iOS
and Android Apps’, analyzed the apps to assess their
exposure to a common vulnerability.
13% rise in smartphone hacking attempts
A report by Symantec indicated that there is a 13% rise in smartphone
numbers that sustained attempts of attacks and other successful attacks
in 2014. The report further said that the email is still widely seen as the at-
tackers’ favorite attacking tool, but techniques have developed to include
smartphones, and social media sites with the purpose of increasing the
targets base with the least efforts.
