Google is going to roll out a major update
to its ranking algorithm that will greatly in-
crease the importance of mobile functional-
ity.
Google wants to make it easier for people
using mobile devices to access websites
that have been optimized for use on that de-
vice. It is not long now until their algorithms
for mobile search will shift to reflect this de-
sire.
“Responsive” websites refer to sites that of-
fer bigger fonts and easily clickable links and
the responsive feature to the screen size of
the device used in the search process.
Mobile search now accounts for about 60
percent of online traffic to websites, and
people use their devices to complete a myri-
ad of tasks. Google seeks to provide mobile
users with a better search experience.
Smartphone apps market is advancing driv-
en by higher customer satisfaction, accord-
ing to Gartner, Inc.
The study urges apps providers to reach
out to users and focus their attention on de-
veloping, marketing and promoting brands
in order to achieve retention strategies, es-
pecially with users’ increased integration of
apps in their day-to-day life.
Gartner went on saying that users might
not want or need more apps in the future,
raising the concern of apps providers. The
reason is if users become very satisfied with
apps, apps providers will encounter less en-
gagement or slower growth rates.

Samsung
wearable smartphone
Samsung has recently patented
a technology for a device that will
work both as a smartphone and
smartwatch.
Samsung was granted patent
from the US Patent & Trademark
Office. The device, which can be
rotated to match the user’s arm
position, is also planned to have a
large touchscreen OLED display
and would be able to play back
audio, video, and other forms of
multimedia.
Because the device will be in-
tended to be a wearable smart-
phone, it will also allow means of
communication, such as making
phone calls.
