A recent study by Emirates eGovernment revealed that federal government entities
have a better presence on social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and You-
Tube compared to local government entities in the UAE.
The federal government came first in communicating with the public through YouTube.
Dubai local government entities came in second, followed by Abu Dhabi.
As for Twitter, the study showed that
federal government entities also
came in the first place, followed by
Dubai local government entities, Abu
Dhabi and Sharjah Then came Aj-
man, followed by Ras Al Khaimah,
Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain didn’t
have any presence on Twitter.
Results relating to Facebook were
similar. Federal government entities
came first, followed by Dubai local
entities, Abu Dhabi, and then Shar-
jah, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah re-
spectively. Neither Fujairah nor Umm
Al Quwain was present on Facebook.
According to the study, the Ministry
of Education, Emirates Identity Au-
thority, Ministry of Interior and Min-
istry of Labour recorded the largest
number of participants on Facebook
