Dubai Hosts GCC
eGovernment Award, Conference
and Exhibition in December
TRA calls on government entities to actively participate in the event and
showcase UAE’s distinguished experience in eTransformation
UAE’s Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) will host the 3
rd
GCC eGov-
ernment Award, Conference and Exhibition in the second week of December 2013
in Dubai over three days.
The biennial event is hosted by one of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
The 1
st
edition was hosted by Oman in 2009 while the second took place in Kuwait in
2011. The event is in line with the Council’s vision aimed at promoting knowledge-
based economies and societies.
Exhibition
GCC countries hope that the event
will come up with a significant mech-
anism to bolster the implementation
of eGovernment programmes in the
member countries, and be a special-
ized advisory tool through the sup-
port it provides to government enti-
ties in the GCC.
The event comprises of three main
components: Honouring the eGov-
ernment Award winners on the first
day, the 3-day eGovernment Exhi-
bition and the 2-day eGovernment
Conference which starts on the sec-
ond day.
The participating government enti-
ties within the GCC countries present
their best practices in processing on-
line transactions according to certain
pre-set standards. Categories of the
award include: Best Government eS-
ervice for Citizens and Businesses,
Best Government Interoperable eS-
ervice for Citizens and Businesses,
Best
Government-to-Government
Shared Service, Best Government
Portal, Best Application for Smart
Devices, Best Government ePartici-
pation Practice and Best e-Initiative.
