The sitemap is well organized and
helps the user reach any of the web-
site sections easily.
There are different effective search
tools within the website.You can
search the contents of the website,
enquire about the status of an appli-
cation or go directly to a certain ser-
vices using the “find it fast” tool on
the homepage.
Hyperlinks are displayed well
throughout the website. However, it
would be better if the colour of hyper-
links gets changed after visiting them
(usually non-visited links are blue
and they become red when clicked
on).
It is better to use a different colour
other than red in some of the head-
lines since it usually refers to visited
links. Some texts are in light brown
which might be difficult for some us-
ers to read.
When subscribed to the newsletter, a
“Thank you for your interest in Emir-
ates ID newsletter” message popped
up. However, no confirmation mes-
sage was sent to the entered email
id (screenshot 3).
Content:
A website content is a very crucial
element in ensuring its success in
meeting users’ needs and expecta-
tions. The content must be easy to
read and understand. It should be
succinct and provide users with the
information they need, without be-
ing distracted by unnecessary mes-
sages.
Following are a few remarks on
Emiartes ID website in this regard:
The content on Emirates ID web-
site is rich and the language used is
smooth and easy to read in both Ara-
bic and English.
The website avoids long texts and
uses lists and sub-headings for easy
navigation.
There is an FAQ section. However, it
needs to be updated (screenshot 4)
The website provides various com-
munication channels with the public
including telephone, SMS and social
media. There are 3 channels to con-
tact H.E. the Director General includ-
ing Facebook and Twitter
There is a section for Open Data
on the website. The published files
show numbers of ID cards produced
and delivered in addition to website
traffic statistics.
Final Remarks:
The aim of this quick review is to
highlight the main features and
unique characteristics of Emirates
ID website, in addition to a few areas
that can be imporved in order to pro-
vide a better browsing experience for
the user.
The website was reviewed in the
period from 15-19 September 2013.
Any changes done to the website af-
ter that date are not reflected.
