Steve Jobs
and the third Apple which changed the world…
(The first)
It was an eventful life that Steve Jobs lived. He was the charismatic
pioneer of revolution in 6 key industries; personal computers, cartoon
movies, music, phones, tablets and digital publishing in addition to the
revolution he made in the digital content market of applications. Hence, we
can consider his Apple (Apple Corporation’s logo) the third apple to change the
world after Adam’s and Isaac Newton’s apples.
The story of a book
In 626 pages, Walter Isaacson, the
Managing Editor of Time maga-
zine and former CEO of CNN, tells
the story of Steve Jobs. Isaacson
wrote the biographies of Benjamin
Franklin and Albert Einstein. When
Steve asked him to write his biog-
raphy, Isaacson, jokingly, asked him
whether he saw himself as the natu-
ral successor in that sequence.  He
objected Jobs’ request saying it was
early to do that because Jobs was
still in the middle of his career and
that had many more ups and downs
left. “Not now. Maybe in a decade
or two, when you retire,” he said to
him. Isaacson’s friendship with Jobs
started in 1984 when the latter was
having a business dinner with Time
magazine editors to show them his
new product (Macintosh). Their rela-
tionship started since then and Isaa-
cson witnessed many of Steve Jobs’
ups and downs.
The idea of writing his biography
came to Steve Jobs’ mind in 2004 as
if he felt he was approaching the end
of his life. Although Jobs had directly
requested Isaacson to write his biog-
raphy, Isaacson was not enthusias-
tic about the ides until Steve’s wife
said to him: ““If you’re going to do a
book on Steve, you had better do it
now.” She told him that Steve was di-
agnosed with cancer and at that mo-
ment he was undergoing a surgery
to remove a cancerous tumor. Steve
didn’t want to tell anyone about it.
At that moment, Isaacson decided
to start writing Jobs’ biography. He
interviewed more than 100 people
including Jobs’ relatives, friends, ri-
vals, competitors and colleagues in
addition to more than 40 interviews
with Steve Jobs himself conducted
over two years. During those two
years, Steve experienced recurrenc-
es of cancer, but each time he came
back with more enthusiasm in spite
of his illness and pain, as if he didn’t
