H. E. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director General, Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) executes the role of Government Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the UAE. As the CIO, H. E. Mesmar oversees the implementation of national projects and initiatives that are aimed at achieving the digitalisation of the country.
H. E. Majed Sultan Al Mesmar, Director General, Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) executes the role of Government Chief Information Officer (CIO) in the UAE. As the CIO, H. E. Mesmar oversees the implementation of national projects and initiatives that are aimed at achieving the digitalisation of the country.
Al Mesmar has 30 years’ experience in the field of telecommunications, related technologies, wireless networks, planning and development, project management, policies, strategies and regulations. He worked locally at Etisalat, regionally at Mobily (Etihad Etisalat Co.) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and internationally at Etisalat - India.
Throughout his rich career, Al Mesmar held many senior positions, such as Deputy Director General for the Telecommunications Sector at TDRA, Senior Vice President of Etisalat Group for International Private Projects, Chief Operating Officer of Etisalat - India, and Chief Technical Officer of Mobily, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Al Mesmar is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the ICT Fund. As the Chairman, Al Mesmar supervises the financing of educational projects, which involve preparing national cadres to lead the digital future, and supporting scientific research, national ICT projects and technology incubators.

Al Mesmar has a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University, Boston in 1990. He is a graduate of Etisalat’s Future Leadership Programme (2006-2008) in the Executive Category and a graduate of the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Leadership Programme (2008-2010) in the Government Leaders Category.
