2. Accessibility standards
This digital platform is designed and developed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 & 2.2 Level AA standards, as a minimum. We rigorously follow WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 Level AA standards and implement best practices to enhance accessibility.

We are committed to maintaining accessibility as a continuous process. Our efforts include regularly testing and updating this platform to improve usability for all users.

As part of our efforts to make the UAE Government’s services widely accessible, we are reaching out to people with limited mobility and people who are motor-impaired, blind, dyslexic or dealing with cognitive and learning issues (people of determination). We have designed this platform with enhanced features and included latest AI-powered accessibility tools. Read about them here and find out how you can use them to your maximum benefit.
Site map
The platform follows the standards of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to maintain the structure of web content and ease in navigation of the website. This makes browsing and accessing information and services easier.
Responsive web design
The design of this platform is optimised for different screen sizes such as those of mobile phones, tablets, desktops and TVs.
Ability to zoom
If you are having difficulty reading a text or viewing images, you can select ‘Zoom’ from the browser option to zoom in and enlarge the screen.
Ability to change text size
If you experience difficulty reading the text on the computer screen, you can enlarge or reduce the text-size by pressing the Ctrl and + keys to increase the text size, or Ctrl and - keys to decrease the text size. Pressing the Ctrl and the number 0 keys resets the default size.
Keyboard support
The platform can be browsed using a keyboard by pressing the Tab, Shift and Enter keys.
Ability to hear the text
You can listen to the text on the platform by selecting the text and clicking on the speaker button. You can adjust the speed and other controls by clicking on the settings button of the ReadSpeaker software.
Scroll up button
You can use the scroll up button to go to the top of the page at the click of a button.
Following are some of the AI-powered accessibility enhanced features on the platform that aim to benefit people with different abilities.
1. Screen Reader – This tool reads the text on the screen in 3 speeds.
2. Contrast + - This helps you adjust to invert colours, dark contrast and light contrast.
3. Smart contrast – This feature gives you the power to ensure your site colours meet WCAG 2.1 AA or even AAA.
4. Highlight links – This tool highlights all hyperlinks on the page.
5. Bigger text – This makes the text bigger; 4 size options are available.
6. Text spacing – This tool widens space between the text on a light, moderate and heavy scale.
7. Play/pause animations – This tool will play and pause animations. It is beneficial for those who are motor-impaired, dyslexic, visually impaired, those
dealing with cognitive and learning issues, and those who are prone to seizure and epilepsy.
8. Hide images – This tool will hide images.
9. Dyslexia friendly – This tool displays fonts that are easy for people with dyslexia.
10. Cursor – This tool provides a big cursor, reading mask and a reading guide; it is beneficial for those who are visually-impaired, dealing with cognitive and learning issues or are suffering from ADHD.
11. Tooltips – This tool should be used when a link or button contains only an icon; this is useful for those who are motor impaired.
12. Page structure – This tool presents the structure of the page in a simplified manner.
13. Line height – This tool increases the space between the lines; height can be increased to 1, 1.75 and 2 times the original.
14. Text align – This tool aligns the text to either left, right or centre or justifies it.
15. Dictionary – This tool gives the users access to dictionary lookups without needing to leave the website; this is useful for those with cognitive disabilities, non-native English speakers and more. Select this tool and then select the word you want to look up.
16. Saturation – This tool sets the intensity of colours to high, low or greyscale.
