‘Innovation oasis’

enters Guinness World Record by

‘Pedal to Guinness World Record’

The General Secretariat of the Executive

Council of Dubai has crowned the events of

UAE Innovation by entering GuinnessWorld

Record by breaking the Guinness World

Record for the most mechanical energy

produced in one hour, generating 8.999

watts by using the fixed bicycles for one hour

in the finale event ‘Pedal to Guinness World

Record.

This finale event of UAE Innovation Week

in which Dubai participated with its main

event ‘Innovation Oasis’ and through

which it presented the initiative ‘Good Move

Dubai’ as part of Dubai Initiatives Plan 2021

launched earlier this year in partnershipwith

Emirates and Meraas promoting health and

fitness to all members of the community;

the event was in partnership with Techno

Gym. IMMAR and UAE Cycling Federation

and sponsored by Dubai Sport Council and

Tawaf Dubai..

‘Pedal to Guinness World Record’, included

300 participants cycling for one hour on 100

stationary bicycles while results and updates

were reflected on the tallest building in the

world ‘Burj Khalifa’.

This thrillingeventwasopenforparticipation

to all members of the community, at The

Innovation Hub in Burj Park Downtown

Dubai on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid

Boulevard. The previous record for the most

mechanical energy produced in one hour

by pedalling on static bicycles is 8,369.8 watt

within an hour, at Stoke Park in the United

Kingdom.

The event was attended by a delegation

from Guinness World Records to ensure the

challenge took place through all the right

conditions to break the world record. His

Excellency Abdulla Al Shaibani, Secretary

General of The Executive Council of Dubai

and member of the Higher Committee

for UAE Innovation Week received the

certificate in the presence of supporters and

participants who expressed their pride in

being part of Dubai global achievements.

Commitment towards the Best

Speaking on this occasion, His Excellency

Al Shaibani said, “What makes the UAE so

resilient and has allowed it to achieve such

accomplishments and growth over the past

decade is the commitment to strive for the

best. From the tallest building in the world

that shows the nation’s infrastructure

capabilities, to this new record for the most

mechanical energy produced in one hour,

generating 8,999 watts. This event has

come under theDubai Plan 2021 portraying

Dubai’s efforts in promoting health and

wellness – the UAE and Dubai are being set

as a leader for not only the region, but the

world.”
