UAE chaired ‘Internet of Things and Smart Cities’ in the International Telecommunication …. Hamad Al Mansouri

We will continue the policy of developing the national

competencies to reach to international leadership

positions

The International TelecommunicationsUnion

has re-elected UAE to chair the Study Group

20 of ‘Internet of Things and Smart Things’ in

addition to electing UAE as Vice President of

the Second Study Group of Digital Issues.

The General Authority for Regulating the

Telecommunications Sector has cleared in the

closure of its participation in the International

Telecommunications Union standardization

sector hosted by the city of Hamamat Al

yasameen in Tunisia, that Engineer Nasser Al

Marzooqi UAE representative to the ITU was

elected the chairman of the Study group of

Internet of Things and Smart Cities.

TRU added ‘Engineer Saif Bin Galetha the

manager of technology development affairs

in the authority was elected as the acting

chairman of the second study group of digital

issues.

His excellency Hamad Obeid Al Mansouri,

General Manager of the Authority confirmed

thatUAEenjoys theconfidenceofmembersof

the International Telecommunication Union

and the OAS as a result of the tireless exerted

efforts represented by the Authority in all the

conferences and activities of the organization.

His Excellency stressed stresses on the

aspiration of the Authority to continue to

work according to a deliberate and systematic

plan for the development and empowerment

of this relationship with the International

Telecommunication Union, through the

continuous contribution in providing

suggestions and opinions that enrich the

work of the organization and supports

their efforts and devote its role in the

leadership of the telecommunications

sector in the world.

His Excellency Al Mansouri pointed

out that the Authority continues to

prepare and develop and qualify

young national competencies

to reach access to leadership

positions in the international

organizations

relevant

to

telecommunications

and

information technology sector.

He stressed that this trend

focuses on serving of goals set

by the leadership within UAE

Vision 2021 which confirms

on the need to invest in the human element

as the basic foundation in the sustainable

development process.

The

meetings

of

the

International

Telecommunications Union standardization

sector have witnessed an active attendance by

the Arab group through the presentation of 32

suggestionswhosemajoritywas accepted and

accredited.

One of the most important suggestions

that were submitted by the group is the

amendment of the e-Health resolution

and the accessibility of the special needs

individuals to the information technology and

telecommunications services in addition to

accrediting a new resolution about the open

resources societies.

United Arab Emirates has presented several

suggestions that were adopted by the Arab

group as mutual Arab suggestions.
