Senior Officials:
Concerted efforts a pillar for a successful
Smart Government
Senior officials in the public and private sectors expected a soon
launch of a federal unified platform that will combine all government
smart apps across country, noting that efforts are currently focused
on local governments level. Discussions to integrate all these apps
once completed are ongoing.
In this context, Ahmed bin Humaid-
an, Director General of Dubai Smart
Government, said: “As part of the
transformation into smart govern-
ment, our objective is to find a unified
platform for all smart services apps
across Dubai. This comes in line with
the initiative launched by His High-
ness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid
Al Maktoum, Vice President and
Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler
of Dubai, to facilitate access to all
government services round the clock
and through mobile phones”.
Bin Humaidan clarified that the plat
-
form will be based on the nature of
identical services. This means that
all government services can be inte-
grated into a single smart app pro-
vided that they come under the same
category. Categories may include:
e-payment services, health services,
public security and safety services,
educational services; and same wise
for other service types and catego-
ries.
He pointed out that, during Gitex
2013, Dubai Smart Government De-
partment has launched two important
apps that can be used by individuals,
organizations and even visitors to
Dubai. These two apps are ‘mPay’
and ‘mDubai’.
The ‘mPay’ is a free advanced edi-
tion of the smart phones payment
app, which can be accessed under
mPay. It is currently being used by 4
government entities including Dubai
Police, Dubai Electricity and Water
Authority (DEWA), Dubai Road and
Transport Authority (RTA) and Eti-
salat.
Bin Humaidan noted that ‘mPay’ al-
lows users access to 5 most used
government services in one step.
These include paying DEWA bills,
topping up Salik and Nol cards, pay-
ing traffic fines and settling subscrip

tion bills in any or all five Etisalat
services; being payment of GSM,
