The decision taken by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), to establish the Abu Dhabi Labour Court, is a step in the right direction.

The specialised court that looks into crimes against domestic labour, is a testimony to the UAE’s respect for labourers, regardless of their status and classification. It also demonstrated the country’s commitment to protect workers’ rights and their dignity.

The UAE is country ruled by laws, rules and regulations that were deigned to protect the rights of both parties involved in employment contract, and enhance the levels of transparency and balance in their relationship, at par with relevant international standards and treaties.

His Highness’s decision will have a great positive impact on the employer - domestic worker relationship, as it instills respect for workers’ rights, which were guaranteed by the federal  law that was issued by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, regarding support service workers.
