Etihad Rail is the national railway of the UAE. It will connect all the seven emirates. The construction of Etihad Rail is aimed at developing quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and transborder infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with a focus on affordable and equitable access for all.
Length and coverage
Etihad Rail’s 900km network will extend across the United Arab Emirates. In 2023, Etihad Rail inaugurated the network expansion, linking all seven emirates, from Ghuwaifat to Fujairah on the eastern coast of the UAE, and launched freight train operations across the UAE.
It will launch passenger transport services by 2026.
Services
Since 2016, Etihad Rail has been operating a route that spans 264km, transporting granulated sulphur from sources at Shah and Habshan to the port in Ruwais.

Hafeet Rail
Hafeet Rail is the region’s first cross-border rail network. Etihad Rail, Oman Rail and Mubadala Investment will jointly build and operate the 238km long rail network between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates.
