Launched in 2023, Dubai Marine Transport Master Plan aims to enhance Dubai’s marine transport system through 2030.
Objectives
By 2030, the plan aims to achieve the following:
- increase the number of marine transport users by 51 per cent, from 14.7 million (as of 2023) to 22.2 million
- expand the total length of the marine transport network by 188 per cent, from 55 km (as of 2023) to 158 km
- increase marine transport stations from 48 to 79 stations, placed along the Dubai Creek, Dubai Water Canal, the Arabian Gulf coastline and various waterfront projects
- increase the number of passenger transport lines from 7 to 35
- increase the marine transport fleet by 32 per cent, from 196 to 258 marine vessels
- manufacture the world's first electric abra, using 3D printing technology. This initiative will reduce manufacturing time by 90 per cent and reduce production cost by 30 per cent.
