In October 2017, the UAE Cabinet adopted the Government Communication Strategy 2017-2021. The strategy includes a set of strategic objectives and national priorities to achieve optimal communication system for federal entities.

The five-year communication strategy will adopt ideas and initiatives to advance the two-way communication channel between the government and the society, which will in turn enhance the overall government performance and decision-making.

The success of the strategy will depend on government entities, the private sector, media outlets, the general public and social media users.

The strategy aims to:

• support the objectives of National Agenda and Vision 2021
• enhance communication between the government and all sectors
• lead an effective management of the government's image on various communication platforms
• instil patriotic values
• enhance ties with media outlets.
