The Great Arab Minds Award honours the lifelong achievements of brilliant Arabs, whose work has contributed to shaping a better future for humanity. The annual award recognises six individuals across the following six categories:
Valued at AED 1 million, the award is presented each year to one individual per category, to be used to fund their research and projects.
The award aims to highlight the potential of people from Arab backgrounds. It seeks to create opportunities and a knowledge hub in the region while countering the fallout of the brain drain seen across the Arab world.
The ‘Minister of Interior’s Scientific Research Award’ aims to encourage the employees of Ministry of Interior to adopt scientific research in work development and use innovative problem-solving approaches to tackle risks in their daily work. The award also aims to promote the spirit of competition and discover the scientific and academic talents amongst the employees of the ministry and invest their energies in promoting police work, mechanisms and services.
The Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences was established in 1999, with the objective of honouring scientists from every part of the world who tirelessly pursue distinctive medical research that serves the larger interests of humanity. It also recognises the importance of scientific research in boosting the progress of the UAE and plays a proactive role in funding domestic health researches.
The Rashid bin Humaid Award for Culture and Sciences was launched in 1983 to direct the efforts of researchers and academics to study issues that have a positive impact in raising the knowledge and cultural level in the UAE, which will contribute to building innovative and creative generations.
