The Global Digital Compact is a comprehensive global framework for digital cooperation and governance of artificial intelligence. 20 years after the World Summit on the Information Society, it charts a roadmap for global digital cooperation to harness the immense potential of digital technology and close digital divides.

In September 2024, the UAE participated in a session at the United Nations’ Summit of the Future Action Days. H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications who participated in a key discussion at the session said, “The Global Digital Compact serves as a vital roadmap for action. The UAE is committed to being a strong partner in achieving an open, free, and secure digital future.”

In addition, the UAE hosted the ‘Arab Consultative Conference and Expert Meetings on the World Summit on the Information Society +20 (WSIS+20) Review and Global Digital Compact Processes’ in 2024.
Further, as part of its collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the League of Arab States, a delegation from the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) participated in the regional meetings held in Jordan in February 2025.
