His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin
Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President,
Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,
May Allah Protect Him, confirmed that
innovation is a sustainable wealth and the
basis for the nations’ development and the
countries’ progress towards the future. He
added that UAE has pursued innovation
as a work culture and lifestyle to build a
knowledge-based society, led by innovators
who have the future visions to promote the
process of their countries and consolidate
its international standing.
His Highness said: under the leadership of
my brother His Highness Sheikh Khalifa
bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE has become
a global platform for innovation and
innovators’ destination. It attract the best
minds and talent, and open the door for
them and provide them with opportunities
and the ideal environment for to create and
contribute through their innovations in
makingapositivechange in thecommunity
and the development of a knowledge
economy.
On occasion of the launching of Emirates
Week for innovation in its second session,
He added ‘we are very grateful to Allah,
we have succeeded in transforming
innovation into the work
culture of the government
and a daily exercise,
and
we
want
to focus during the next phase at the
community innovation, we want to
activate the participation of the community
in proposing ideas and initiatives for
the interest of people. Moreover, the
government is ready to adopt these ideas
and transform them into reality’.
His Highness asserted ‘We want initiatives
and projects that are focused on improving
the society and its sectors.. projects from
and to the society .. innovations that build
for tomorrow and promote the standards
of life .. Innovation for us is a framework
which applications are seen in the services
and initiatives of government agencies’.
His Highness urged the individuals and
government
agencies,
corporations,
academic institutions and universities
to develop innovative platforms and
laboratories, and intensify research efforts
in vital sectors, to build an integrated system
to support real change in people›s lives and
reinforce the position of the United Arab
Emirates as the capital of the world for
innovation.
The Vice President said ‘We have learned
from the history lessons that
civilizations that prevailed were not to
continue because of its power or financial
wealth only, but because of its people’s
efforts and their renewed ability to create
solutions for the challenges they face, while
civilizations that stopped working, learning
and research for future opportunities were
lost and forgotten in history books’.
