It is a great coincidence that the issuance of the 38th
edition of E- Government magazine comes along with the
announcement of the International Telecommunications
UnionandInternationalWomen’sOrganizationthatHerHighness
Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, President of Women’s Public
Union, The Chairwoman of Family Development Foundation,
the Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and
Childhood, Mother of the Nation, May Allah Protect her, that Her
Highness won Women Leaders Excellence Awards for the region
in a recognition of her role in achieving equality between the two
genders in the domain of telecommunications and Information
Technology.
It is really an honouring that was given to the right person who
deserves it. Her Highness has been working for decades to create
a progress in the Emirati Women Performance in all the domains
starting from the preparation phase and qualifying passing by
polishing their abilities until being piioneers, and here she is now
harvesting the fruits of the trees she has planted.
The secondyear of theEmirate InnovationWeek comes at the time
that our beloved country is more detriment and unique towards
the international leadership, evidenced by our government
announcing several days ago the first international plan to adopt
the fourth industrial revolution to prove to the world that UAE is
moving forward to enhance its position as a future predication
platform.
UAE is paying special attention to Innovation which has become
an integrated system and the specialized teams are continuously
working on establishing a stable social and government culture.
These efforts were crowned with many initiatives, programs and
events that have produced inventive services and creations that
serve the public interest.
UAE has early realised the importance of depending on new
legislations and supportive laws when registering an invention,
in addition to a clear national policy that is accredited by His
Highness Skeikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of UAE,
May Allah Protect Him, accompanied by a clear strategy andHuge
budgets that are allocated to support innovation.
Our country has considered innovation as a national priority for
development, a major tool to accomplish the vision 2021 and a
collective umbrella for the powers and distinguished active cadres
in UAE. Therefore, the wise leadership is seeking to strengthen
innovation and creativity in all the domains to present real
services and products that improve life and push the economy
towards new horizons.
This edition also coincides with the beginning of Emirate
InnovationWeek held betweenNovember 20th to 26th, which has
witnessed a big competition between the private and government
authorities that work on establishing innovation and creativity
between its employees and clients.
This week is considered one of the biggest innovation initiatives
in the world, in which the efforts of the government, the private
sector and the individuals are unified to help in spreading a wide
innovation culture in the country, and enhancing its position as
an international centre of Innovation.
The organization of this event is considered a translation to UAE
distinction in innovation since its foundation; this matter has
contributed in enhancing its social and economic position and
made it the destination for talents and business in as very short
time.
In an investigation conducted by ‘E-Government’, researchers
and university professors in national universities requested the
establishment of ‘Union of companies’ that adopts and supports
the inventions produced by the promising Emirati brains. They
have all agreed that the creative projects require support and
financing from the competent authorities that are related to
the researches conducted in the educational institutions, to be
executed and applied on reality for the public interest.
This edition reviews one of the participating ideas in ‘Afkari’
Platform that was launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and
Dubai Ruler. The idea was presented by Amena Al Badawi from
the development department in Telecommunications Regulatory
Authority.
The idea is about creating ‘Happiness Bank’ which is an electronic
device and a smart application that are used by the government
sector employees to express their happiness and spreadhappiness
in the establishment by gifting ‘Happiness Checques’ to their
colleagues at work in order to establish the gratitude culture.
In this edition, we have interviewed the Emirati Inventor who
has strongly deserved the title of ‘The Youngest Emirati Inventor’
whose talent was first noticed at the age of seven while at the age
of thirteen, she has presented ten inventions innational, scientific
and humanitarian domains. She has received the UAE Pioneers
medal from His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Dubai Ruler, May
Allah Protect Him, to be one of 44 Emiratis who are UAE Pioneers
in different sectors on 2015.
This edition is also rich in many reports, different local
and international news in the domain of Technology and
information technology and communications, the applications
of the Smart Phones and tablets and the latest application of E-
