in Arab region and eighth globally in
electronic and smart services index
In the UN E-Government Survey on the e-government development issued in 2016
The UAE has advanced to the eighth rank in the index of
electronic and smart services as part of the E-Government
Development Index issued by theUnitedNations Department
of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA).
The UAE has achieved (0.8913) point in this index, which
is considered a basic component of the overall index of
E-Government Development, hence, it ranked eighth globally
together with Estonia.
According to this result, the UAE has maintained its regional
leadership in the index of electronic services as it ranked first
in theGulf, Arab and theWest AsiaRegion, ranked third inAsia
andeighthglobally. As for the indexof electronicparticipation,
the UAE and Bahrain came first in the Arab region and 32nd
globally. The report placed the UAE in the list of the world›s
leading countries in terms of the progress level of electronic
government development. Furthermore, the report also put
theUAE in the list of the top 50nations in theworld in terms of
the application of the electronic participation.
UAE ranks first
