-What is the society plan in this
current year?
The society plan in this year is to raise
awarenessabout the internet–relatedrisks, the
societywill givechildreneducation toppriority
as such young people are national wealth and
future assets and furthermore this is in line
with UAE aspirations that gives investment in
Human Capital great importance. The today
childrenare tomorrowyouthwhowill leadand
assume responsibilities of UAE development
and progress.
For this reason, the society assumes
responsibilityof provisionof qualified teachers
in order to digitally teach students in this year
training workshops will be conducted for IT
faculties in schools and free seminars online. It
will also train a number of volunteers in safer
internet day in schools. Moreover, a group of
colleges students will be selected in order to be
speakers in a safer internet day in each school
in AUE.
-Is there coordination between the
society and other UAE government
bodies to reduce internet-related
risks?
For sure, the society coordinates with a
number of government bodies including
Ministries of Interior, Education and
Islamic Affairs in addition to internet
providers such Google, Microsoft and
Facebook in order to limit child abuse on
internet.
It also provides technical training programs
and advanced workshops in support of law
enforcement authorities and agencies in
cybercrimes control area in child rights
and it also seeks to develop forensic digital
tools to assist the Ministry of Interior in this
field.
The society further seeks to develop 3D
curriculum in cooperation with UAE
Educational councils in order to educate
and raise awareness about safer and more
responsible use of internet and conduct
child safety on internet activities at all UAE
schools. It will also create information
store to protect child data online using
internet safe use methods and a research
and development center in order to direct
child protection activities online in addition
to build a reporting system in cooperation
with international hotlines and to support
developing a legal framework in line with
the best international standards.
-Is there a plan to invite experts
abroad in order to give lectures
on child protection from internet-
related risks?
Of
course,
there
are
cooperation
agreements with many international
agencies specialized in child protection
such Interpol, UNICEF, Europe Council, and
WHO. It aims to develop strategic programs
and technical plans in order to achieve
more effective experience for children and
adolescences on internet. It alsowill activate
a number of hotlines to assist the Ministry
of Interior to receive and process reports
on cyber-crimes against children and to
support the government efforts in assisting
cyber blackmail victims especially children.
-Is there any cooperation between
the society and the education
councils?
The society strategy focuses on the school
children so it consults with the education
councils in order to develop 3D educational
curriculum for education of school children
on internet-related risks and to provide
advanced technical training workshops in
cyber-crimes control field.
