Authority TRA has supported national
academic institutions to become members
of
International
Telecommunications
Union ITU in its three sectors: Radio-
communication,
Standardization
and
Development.
TRA has recently approved accession of
Higher Colleges of Technologies to ITU
and it further exerts efforts in order to make
Zayed University a member of ITU.
HE Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, Director-
General of TRA said that academic sector in
UAE is a strategic partner in development as
it plays a significant role in education and
knowledge dissemination and it is also a
partner inestablishinghigh leadingposition
of UAE at all different levels, he added.
He also said that we support national
academic institutions as a part of UAE
leadership directions and strategies in order
to support young national competencies
and to prepare a generation of experts have
abilities to lead huge transformations at
both Telecommunications & ICT levels.
Eng. Naser bin Hamad, Senior Manager
of International Relations, said that this
membershipgives theacademic institutions
a number of benefits and advantages such
as participation in a range of conferences,
workshops and many other activities at
both regional and international levels.
Furthermore, it gives such academic bodies
opportunities to express their point of views
about many latest modern developments
and technologies in their area of expertise.
He added that national ICT academic
institutions students could take a benefit
from courses and workshops conducted
by ITU in so many ICT-related areas such
as Radio-telecommunications and World
Telecommunication
Standardization
Assembly. Moreover, they can also directly
contact withmore than 100 universities and
research centers from many ITU member
states.
In addition, the national academic
institutions can also discuss and consider
so many topics including but not limited
to huge data, smart cities, cyber security,
electronic-waste,
Radio
Spectrum
Management, rural communities, weather
changes, disaster recovery, and digital
financial inclusion.
