The UAE in the Lead
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime
Minister and Ruler of Dubai, sets a unique example in following up on all the tiniest details of
government work. The aim is to continue developing systems, mechanisms and approaches
of work according to new concepts in providing government services. This comes in line with
the future ambitions and aspirations of the UAE and its keenness to take the lead across
various areas.
The UAE aspires to develop innovation-based government work and provide integrated gov-
ernment services that keep par with its global counterparts. This requires ongoing follow up,
thorough assessment approach and a mechanism that helps take actual steps that directly
impact the people, who are more or less the final judges for the performance of government
entities. To that end, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed is always keen on following up and
attending the different brainstorming sessions organized by government entities. He is keen
on listening to the ideas and opinions of officials. The most recent brainstorming session at-
tended by His Highness was also attended by 100 deputies, directors and officials of smart
government services, to discuss the future of smart government services and the most im-
portant ideas for developing its infrastructure as well as to promote its usage and enhance
the quality of its applications.
His Highness is further keen on applying a thorough and unique approach to all details of
government work. He instructed to revise some legislation and government measures to
facilitate the work of mGovernment and raise the efficiency of its services, after receiving
certain comments and feedback about the smart services.
A report in the mGov 22nd issue provided a comprehensive coverage of the brainstorming
session about the mGovernment initiative. In the session, Sheikh Mohammed said it is nor-
mal to err while working and endeavoring, and that the next stage requires a comprehensive
review, and continuous evaluation and ranking of services quality.
His Highness said he aspires to connect the smart services federally and locally, and to pro-
vide a unified service desk for the customer to access such services regardless of location
and type of service over the coming period. He noted that after all users look at the govern-
ment as one country and a single integrated business environment.
In another report, H.E. Mohammed Bin Ahmed Al Qamzi, TRA’s Chairman, specified the
mGov titles in the next phase in connectivity, quality, usage and customer satisfaction.
He stressed that UAE’s mGov continues to harmonize its plans for the next phase in accor-
dance with the wise directives of the leadership, which followed the announcement of smart
transformation results for the last two years.
Another report showed the growth of household smart technology in the UAE market. House-
hold smart technology has grown between 20%-25% in 2014 in the UAE market, according
to a survey by Eurostar Group.
Eurostar Group expects household smart technology to grow by the same rate in 2015. This
growth is coupled by growing consumer awareness, increase in their needs and aspirations
and urban development that relies today on higher luxurious standards to attract buyers.
