H.E. Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, direc-
tor general at the UAE TRA said that
the FEDnet is a prominent project that
will contribute to achieving smart trans-
formation at the national level. FEDnet
enables G2G connectivity among all
government entities at a local and fed-
eral level. One connection to FEDnet
will enable access to all government
entities. This is more efficient com-
pared to the direct one-to-one connec-
tivity between one entity and another.
He noted that one of the key methods
to enhance quality service and facili-
tate obtaining services is coordinating
between federal and local entities with
regard to smart transformation. He
added that per the instructions of the
wise leadership, service quality should
be enhanced and access to such ser-
vices should be facilitated. This is one
of the main pillars of our work.
Hamad Al Mansoori:
FEDnet enables G2G connectivity compared
to the direct one-to-one connectivity
FEDnet will enhance smart transformation efforts
Al Mansoori added that since an-
nouncing the mGov initiative in May
2013, His Highness Sheikh Moham-
med bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE
Vice President and Prime Minister
and Ruler of Dubai, has stressed that
smart transformation is not excluded
to the local or federal level only. It is
rather a comprehensive national pro-
cess where all efforts are consolidat-
ed and team work prevails.
Al Mansoori pointed out that local
services obtained by users are usu-
ally conducted through federal services
and vice versa, which confirms the idea
of a comprehensive smart transforma-
tion at both the local and federal levels.
He continued saying that when it
comes to the e-government or mGov-
ernment, it is important for customers
to have access to the services they
need without worrying about all what
is going on in the background. He
said that for users, the government is
one, with all services under one um-
brella seeking to achieve customer
satisfaction and happiness.
Al Mansoori said that FEDnet serves
as the cornerstone in achieving data
integration throughout the UAE. FED-
net is also a common and accessible
source to all government entities that
helps achieve the highest levels of
integration and coordination with re-
gard to decision-making related to
providing the best services to custom-
ers around the clock.
Two connectivity centers in Abu Dha-
bi and Dubai are in charge of FEDnet
operations management. This is a
significant step as it alleviates much
burden from government entities with
regard to hosting, maintaining and
protecting data centers.
