Week
2013 was another
milestone towards accomplishing the
smart government imitative and achieving
the UAE Vision 2021. Participation of ten
federal entities on TRA’s stand under the
Smart Government banner was an em-
bodiment of the vision we work together to
achieve in order for the UAE to be among
the best countries in the world.
I’d like to thank our brothers at the entities
that shared our stand; Ministries of Jus-
tice, Labour, Higher Education, Finance,
Health, Environment and Water, General
Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endow-
ment and UAE University. Other units un-
der TRA included Smart Government, ICT
Fund, aeCert, .aeDA and Type Approval.
You gave a great example of harmonious
and concerted efforts and presented a na-
tional symphony that won everyone’s ap-
plause. We are confident the experiment
will expand to include all federal entities.
The projects launched at GITEX revealed
the efforts exerted towards fulfilling the
smart government promise. It was im-
pressive to see government services ac-
cessible through smart devices anytime
anywhere.
In my opinion - which you might share
- this wonderful quantitative develop-
ment needs a qualitative calm revision
to achieve its objective. We need to have
more coordination, define priorities and
adhere to regulations to enhance usage,
achieve integration, correlation and pro-
vide easy, quick and interactive govern-
ment services.
Smart Government magazine had a dis-
tinctive presence at GITEX. It got the at-
tention of most visitors to the TRA stand.
Many discussions revolved around its
topics. We are sure these opinions will be
reflected in the coming issues and hope
it fulfils its mission of spreading aware-
ness about smart government concepts
and highlighting success and possible im-
provements.
I would like to emphasize that this is your
magazine. Its success depends on your
participations through opinions, feedback
and constructive criticism. I promise you
that all your remarks will be taken seri-
ously.
We look around us and see the UAE flag
flying high in every corner and on top of all
buildings in observance of Flag Day which
falls on 3rd November, anniversary of the
accession of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa
bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President. The
initiative was declared by His Highness
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Mak-
toum, Vice President and Prime Minister
of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
We look forward to another date dear
to our hearts; the 42nd National Day of
our blessed union. On this occasion, the
UAE sons and daughters renew their alle-
giance to their country and remember with
love the founding fathers of this nation.
On these lovely days, we renew our al-
legiance to our country and to our prudent
leadership and promise to work day and
night in order to implement the smart gov-
ernment initiative as drawn by its patron.
The ultimate goal is to make the user hap-
py and our country among the best in the
world.
