When was the e-Dirham first
applied?
The e-Dirham system saw the light in
2002 and was launched by the Minis-
try of Finance to collect revenues and
rely on electronic payments through
a secure scheme. The system uses
a special card where funds are di-
rectly transferred into the Ministry of
Finance treasury. The service was
aimed to offer an easy and conve-
nient payment method to customers.
The e-Dirham system is deemed an
easy and secure way to collect rev-
enues and pay government and non-
government service fees.
Through the latest technologies, the
e-Dirham system offers world-class
secure and effective electronic pay-
ment ensuring the best and widest
coverage for its users. It is an inte-
gral electronic payment system in
the United Arab Emirates.
Abdul Rahman Mohammed al-Amiri, financial analyst at
the Ministry of Finance says that he and his colleagues
at the Ministry are working on giving access to citizens
and residents in the UAE to the e-Dirham system. They
aim to go beyond customer service to customer happi�
ness and satisfaction.
Al-Amiri stresses that through the latest technologies,
this system offers world-class secure and effective elec�
tronic payment ensuring the best and widest coverage
for its users.
