178% growth for Windows phone devices
The share for “Windows phones” in the smart phone market has
grown by 178%. A total of 10.2 million “windows phone” devices
were shipped during the third quarter of the current fiscal year com-
pared to 3.7 million during the same period last year, to double its
share in the phone market from 2.1% to 4.1%. Devices run by “win-
dows phone” operating system managed to double its share in the
market from 2.1% to 4.1%, as 10.2 million devices were shipped
during the third quarter of the fiscal year compared to 3.7 million last
year. This makes “windows phone” the fastest growing operating
system in the smart phone market.
13.4% goes for Apple
Apple came second in the study conducted by Strategy An-
alytics. Its share dropped from 15.6% to 13.4% despite the
increase in the number of its shipments that reached 33.8
million smart phones compared to 26.9 million during that
same period last year.
40.2% of the total population of the Middle
East use Internet
A study conducted by Go Gulf, a company specialized in
web services and applications, indicated that 40.2% of the
total population of the area are Internet users.
81.3% of the smart phone market goes for Android
According to a study published by Strategy Analytics Research
Company, Android operating system accounted for 81.3% of the
smart phone market in the third quarter of the fiscal year 2013.This
is a remarkable increase compared to the 75% it accounted for
during the same period last year.
This study also indicates that a total of 204.4 million Android smart
phones were shipped during the third quarter of the fiscal year
2013 compared to 129.6 million during the same period in 2012.
46 million impressions of Sharjah International
Book Fair’s Twitter hashtag in 10 days
The hashtag (#SIBF13) created for the 32nd Sharjah International
Book Fair had a record of more than 46 million impressions in 10 days.
According to statistics by Cybranding, the hashtag had 46 million
impressions from 3-12 November, 3 days before the start of the
book fair which concluded on 16th November. The hashtag was
mentioned in 7500 tweets during the same period. These include
tweets from the official Twitter account (@ShjIntlBookFair) in addi-
tion to followers and visitors of the Sharjah International Book Fair.
