Beginning of a new era
The
announcement of the mGovernment initiative in May
2013 marked the beginning of a new phase of govern-
ment administration in the UAE. It comes with new concepts and a
new culture the essence of which is satisfying the public and deliver-
ing government services to them anytime anywhere through all avail-
able channels.
The utmost goal of mGovernment is satisfying people. This proves
that it is broader than any technical framework and too big to follow
a particular electronic or technological model. Technology is only one
dimension of this comprehensive social and administrative national
project.
This magazine, which bears the same name as the initiative, derives
its importance from the project itself. It aims to disseminate and con-
solidate mGovernment concepts amongst different segments of the
society. It’s my honour to address you through the first issue of mGov-
ernment to stress a few facts:
Firstly: This is not a corporate magazine and doesn’t promote any
entity, institution or department. It’s an informative and educational
publication which aims to establish the suitable environment neces-
sary for the success of mGovernment.
Secondly: The magazine not only spotlights successful examples
but also highlights areas for improvement in government websites,
services and applications. It conveys users’ opinions with profession-
alism and openness. The aim is to offer more insights for decision
makers in their bid to be more innovative in serving their customers
and in embodying mGovernment concepts.
Thirdly: This magazine is a two-way communication channel. It’s open
for your feedback, comments and contributions. We count on you in
correcting any error that you might find in it. Also, we expect you to
highlight the positive aspects that you like most. If each project has
its own KPIs that measure its success, your opinions are our most
important KPIs in measuring the success of this magazine.
