It’s your magazine
The
mGovernment initiative an-
nounced by our prudent lead-
ership last May was another step in our
country’s path towards glory. Since its
inception, the UAE has been blessed
with great leaders who set their priority to
serve their citizens who respond with love
and loyalty. This lively interaction has led
to achievements rarely found anywhere
else.
As citizens who are always eager to serve
their country, we have responded to the
initiative as an assignment for each one of
us in the government. It’s another oppor-
tunity to prove that we work as one united
team guided by the love to our country
and dedication to serve it.
Having crossed the initiation phase of
mGovernment, our memories take us to
the early days when TRA was first es-
tablished in 2003. We feel very proud as
we remember the successes achieved
throughout its journey, particularly its role
in setting up the foundations for a so-
phisticated telecommunications environ-
ment that contributed to the success of
the eGovernment and today is one of the
main pillars of mGovernment.
Since the beginning, TRA has shouldered
a national mission with clear future dimen-
sions that exceed development, regulation
and management of the telecommunica-
tions sector. When we had the honour of
being tasked with supervising the mGov-
ernment initiative in close collaboration
with the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, we re-
alized how important those achievements
in preparing the UAE’s technical and reg-
ulatory ICT environment were. We have
also become more determined to exert all
efforts in order to meet the expectations
of both our prudent leadership and giving
people. We are moving ahead towards
mGovernment as a fundamental stage
on the road to embodying the UAE Vision
2021 which aims for the UAE to be one of
the best countries in the world.
As we move towards the future full of
confidence and faith, we’re aware that
our mission does comprise certain chal-
lenges. However, we are can face these
challenges with our values of collabora-
tion, unity and dedication.
Our brothers and colleagues at govern-
ment entities have exerted hard efforts
during the past few months. The coordi-
nation and team work that we witnessed
strengthen our trust that we are on the
right track. We have all worked hard as
one team with harmonized targets and vi-
sions. We jointly developed a roadmap to
implement mGovernment and developed
a technical guide that will serve all in-
volved parties. We are also co-executing
several projects and initiatives that come
under the mGovernment umbrella, many
of which will mature in the near future.
I take this opportunity to convey my grati-
tude and appreciation to all our brothers at
federal and local government entities who
put the success of the mGovernment proj-
ect as their first priority. I also thank the
TRA team who worked day and night to
set the project on the right track towards
reaping the desired outcomes.
Such a major initiative cannot achieve the
desired objectives without a parallel edu-
cational media aimed at raising aware-
ness on the subject and highlighting the
initiative and how to combat the risks re-
lated to security and privacy, among other
important aspects.
From this perspective, we have founded
mGovernment to be our meeting place to
exchange ideas, opinions, pictures and
stories. Our aim is to promote the mGov-
ernment culture.
Finally, I would like to invite anyone who
has an opinion, comment or complaint
to communicate with us. The magazine
team will treat these opinions as value-
additions to enrich and enhance the qual-
ity of our work. This is your magazine and
we promise you to publish all that benefits
you and contribute in instilling the values
of mGovernment and its objectives.
