1.9 million visitors from 220 countries visited the General
Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowment website until
December, 2013. The number is expected to reach 2 mil-
lion early next year. Page views of the website pages and
eServices reached 4.4 million. The Friday Sermon page
attracted visitors from 113 countries.
‘Wojhati’ downloaded 27,000 times
Wojhati, the journey planner mobile app by Dubai’s Road
and Transport Authority (RTA) on iOS, Android, Black-
Berry and Windows 8 has been very popular since its
launch last October. It was downloaded 27,110 times.
4,571 individuals registered in the E-Ports
project at Galleria Mall
4,571 individuals have recently registered in the E-Ports
project at the Galleria Mall in Abu Dhabi during the five-
day registration campaign. A total of 35,351 individuals
have registered in the E-Ports project in a number of
malls in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Bani Yas.
43% of UAE students use social networking
sites at school
A survey by ICDL GCC Foundation has revealed that
43% of UAE students use social networking sites at
school while 95% of them use these networks at home.
The report highlights trends in social media usage and
cyber safety in the UAE.
36% of youth in the UAE use Twitter
Twitter is the most popular platform among UAE youth
at 36%, followed by Facebook at 29%. Nearly 50% use
social media for ‘staying in touch with their friends,’ fol-
lowed by chatting and studying at 21% and 18%, re-
spectively. The survey of 883 youth from across the
UAE, published by ICDL GCC Foundation, revealed
that 95% of school students between the age of 14
and 18 are active on social media.
