86% unsure who to talk to when victim

ized on cyber space
A recent study found that 86% of the surveyed students
do not know who to seek help from when faced with cy-
ber-crime. The data suggested that children are either
too shy or scared to speak about their online harassment
incidents. The survey also found that when faced with
an online threat, children prefer to talk to their parents.
Almost 42% approached parents, 27% their friends and
13% the concerned authorities.
On average, a smartphone has 26 apps
installed on it
A recent research conducted by HP shows that the
average smartphone user has 26 apps installed. All
of these apps come with privacy or security con-
cerns of some sort.
2 million passwords stolen
Security experts have uncovered some 2 million
stolen passwords to websites including Facebook,
Google, Twitter and Yahoo from Internet users
across the globe. Researchers with Trustwave’s Spi-
derLabs said they discovered the credentials while
investigating a server in the Netherlands that cyber
criminals use to control a massive network of com-
promised computers known as the “Pony botnet.”
41% of financial attack victims unable to
get their money back
A survey by B2B International and Kaspersky Lab
revealed that 41% of those who lost their money
because of online fraud were unable to get all their
money back.
Brightest Flashlight app deceives 50
million users
The privacy of more than 50 million Android users
was breached by Brightest Flashlight app according
to the American Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
