Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of
Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed
bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu
Dhabi and Deputy Supreme commander
of the armed forces and their brothers their
Highnesses Supreme Council Members and
rulers of the Emirates who followed the same
approach in supporting women and gave
them chances in all fields.

‘Mother of the Nation’ of this award is a pride
and glory for every woman in UAE, noting
that the General Women’s Union is working
under the guidance and great support of
Her Highness to empower women in the
field of technology in order to become a
member with her brother ‘the man’ in the
construction process.
Smart shopping project
ShepointedthattheWomen’sUnionlaunched
the Productive Families Project, a commercial
economic project employs the concept
of smart shopping through a customized
application to enable Emirati families in
the economic sector and the promotion of
products which in its turn brings benefits to
women, their families and the community
benefit in order to improve their economic
and social position throughout the availability
of marketing chances.
The application works by employing the
technology to facilitate the community
access to the productive families’ category
by creating an integrated environment that
gathers marketers, productive families and
shoppers.
This project aims to encourage productive
families tocontribute inachieving leadership
in business management through the
creation of investment opportunities for
women and to achieve financial returns, as
wellastoplantthecultureofentrepreneurship
tograduategenerations that havepioneering
spirit, creativity, responsibility and ambition,
thematter that boosts the country to achieve
advanced positions in business indicators,
global competitiveness, innovation and
development.
Women and Technology
She said that theworkmarchof theWomen’s
Union is full of activities and programs that
are directed to build the capacities of women
in technology. The General Women’s Union
has launched in November 2006 ‘women
and technology project’ in order to enable
the women in the field of information
technology. Furthermore, the program
‘Women and Technology’ has worked on
developing women’s capacity and their
rehabilitation to deal with the information
revolution, whether on the personal level or
family or professional.
The programhas providedfive core activities
for the participants and partner institutions,
namely; the professional development
training, business planning for sustainability,
information technology training through
Unlimited Potential classes of Microsoft
Corp., women’s professional development
network, professional exchangeandbuilding
capacities.
Digital Girl
The General Women’s Union launched the
digital child initiative aimed to build the
capacityofthefemalechildrenbetween7and
10 years old during the school vacation and
their empowerment to obtain knowledge,
encourage innovation, research and
development by using modern techniques.
The initiative isworking on the rehabilitation
ofstudentsincomputerskills,educateparents
about the dangers of the Internet, focusing
on the development of problem-solving
skills, logic, creativity and programming
skills. The initiative is targeted to females and
contributes in educating them in electronic
culture and highlights the importance of
the technology role of in building the future.
Moreover, it contains many of the events
represented in awareness campaigns,
summer programs, lectures, forums, training
workshops and forums.
